52. Jason Derulo - In My Head PEAK: #7

51. Rihanna - Only Girl (In The World) PEAK: #10

50. Taylor Swift - Today Was A Fairytale PEAK: #6

From the soundtrack to "Valentine's Day", Taylor Swift delivered another memorable hit here. While not her best, it was still good enough for a top 10 on my chart. She has one of her own and one feature to come, where are they?

49. Five For Fighting - Slice PEAK: #7

I didn't see this coming myself! He'd had some previous success on my chart such as "Superman" and "100 Years", but had not come up with a classic-type song like that until 2010, when Five For Fighting released "Slice", another nostalgic-type song that has become one of my favourites from him.

48. Alyssa Reid - If You Are PEAK: #1 (5 weeks)

One newcomer that took me by surprise in 2010 was 17-year-old Canadian singer Alyssa Reid, who released this catchy pop song! Near the end of the year, it quickly shot up my chart and spent the last three weeks of 2010 at #1... and still made my top 50; in fact, all of the #1's that were on top in 2010 made the top 50. As this song is still riding high on my weekly chart, we could see her back in 2011!

47. John Mayer feat. Taylor Swift - Half Of My Heart PEAK: #10

2010 for me was the year that John Mayer returned to the form he'd exhibited on past records, as the "Battle Studies" era gave him his best hits in years. Songs like this have shown why, accompanied by Taylor Swift on backing vocals, and this had become his first top 10 hit in 7 years on my chart.

46. Kylie Minogue - All The Lovers PEAK: #6

Another strong comeback in 2010 was that of Kylie Minogue, with her album "Aphrodite". This lead single was just as catchy as anything she'd done before, and has firmly become another pop classic for her, ranking as her highest entry in 2010.

45. Selena Gomez & the Scene - Round & Round PEAK: #11

Selena Gomez has been another surprise for me, as she and her band The Scene rank three times in the top 100! Two of these songs made the top 50, and "Round & Round", which peaked at #11, is the highest-ranking song that failed to reach the top 10. Still, she has one more that did make the top 10 to come!

44. Hot Chelle Rae - Bleed PEAK: #4

Hot Chelle Rae had actually failed to chart with the first song I heard from them, but when I heard this one, it resonated with me a little more. This pop/rock ballad became one of those sleeper hits on my chart, quickly making the top 5... can they get another hit eventually?

43. Selena Gomez & the Scene - Naturally PEAK: #9

And here it is, the highest for Selena Gomez & the Scene! It's the song that got me to notice them in the first place, as despite being a Disney artist, they've managed to release some very catchy, mature pop songs that are easy to sing along to. This is their highest entry for 2010, can they outdo it in the future?

42. Gin Blossoms - Miss Disarray PEAK: #5

One of my favourite bands of the 1990's is the Gin Blossoms, who have continued to release in 2010! This song from their album "No Chocolate Cake" gave them a top 5 hit on my chart, proving that they can still make catchy tunes with the same quality as their classics.

41. Kelly Clarkson - All I Ever Wanted PEAK: #6

The album "All I Ever Wanted" was one of my favourites of 2009, and its success continued into 2010, but not without delays, as there had been confusion what the fourth single would be! As I enjoyed the album in general, I probably would've been happy with almost anything, but this turned out a worthy choice, as it would go top 10 and just narrowly miss the top 40 for the year.

40. Boys Like Girls - Heart Heart Heartbreak PEAK: #9

The "Love Drunk" album really got me into Boys Like Girls, and this song was definitely helped by the momentum of the first two singles, both of which were among my favourites of 2009. While this song wasn't as big of a hit, it still became one of my favourites of the year.

39. Leona Lewis - I See You PEAK: #9

"Avatar" has become the most successful movie of all time, and its soundtrack included this ballad from Leona Lewis. This became one of my favourites from her so far, and gives her a fourth straight year with at least one song in the top 40.

38. The Saturdays - Ego PEAK: #1 (1 week)

Here's the highest entry, and my favourite song overall, by a British girl group who has been one of my favourites of the past few years. In a world without other viable girl groups as many have broken up or faded away, these ladies have remained a bright spot.

37. Stef Lang - Slave2Love PEAK: #1 (1 week)

One of my favourite new Canadian artists of 2010 has been Stef Lang, and she scores two songs within the top 40! Her breakthrough single and Canadian radio hit "Mr. Immature" is still to come, and while this did hit #1 on my chart late in the year, it could return for an encore in 2011! Stef Lang is one to watch in the future as I think she has many more hits in front of her.

36. Goo Goo Dolls - Home PEAK: #7

I'd been anticipating new music from the Goo Goo Dolls for years as I'd been a big fan of theirs for many years, and their return on the album "Something For The Rest Of Us" definitely didn't disappoint me. This lead single was pretty much as expected from these guys, and their new single "Notbroken" will continue the hot streak into 2011.

35. Alex Band - Without You PEAK: #2

Alex Band, lead singer of The Calling, officially launched his solo career in 2010 with his long-awaited solo album "We've All Been There", and while he had a couple top 20 hits prior to this, it's "Without You" that became the big hit for me, becoming one of my favourites from him overall, and just missing the top spot on my chart. Hopefully Alex, either solo or with The Calling, can continue to put out the hits for me!

34. Ed Kowalczyk - Grace PEAK: #5

Speaking of lead singers gone solo, Ed Kowalczyk started out as lead singer of Live, and after many hits, they finally broke up and he started his solo career. This proved to be no fluke as I found it as good as anything Live had done, and became a top 5 hit for him.

33. Natasha Bedingfield - Strip Me PEAK: #2

Speaking of comebacks that didn't disappoint me, here's another one that was definitely worthwhile! Natasha Bedingfield had several top 5 hits on my chart, including two #1's, and this song from her latest album "Strip Me" became another one of my favourites from her, peaking at #2 on my chart.

32. Bon Jovi - Superman Tonight PEAK: #6

They've been around since the 1980's, and Bon Jovi have continued their hit streak into 2010! This song from their album "The Circle" was yet another hit from this legendary New Jersey band, proving that they can still put out memorable songs and are showing no signs of stopping yet!

31. Katy Perry - Firework PEAK: #1 (2 weeks)

Inspirational lyrics aren't one thing you think of when you think of Katy Perry, but this song showed she can do a song with an inspirational message and make it work well! This became her third straight #1 in 2010, but how high are the other two? (Hint: they're both top 10 somewhere)

30. Maroon 5 - Give A Little More PEAK: #1 (1 week)

It was clear that I'd anticipate any new music Maroon 5 would put out... and this certainly was no exception. This became their sixth #1 overall on my chart... but how high was the "Hands All Over" album's lead single, "Misery"?

29. Timbaland feat. Katy Perry - If We Ever Meet Again PEAK: #5

Timbaland returned with his album "Shock Value II", and while not quite as successful as its predecessor, still had its share of memorable tunes, this being one of the best. It also kept Katy Perry in the spotlight while she was working on her next album, and ranks as her third highest entry for 2010.

28. Lifehouse - All In PEAK: #1 (1 week)

Here's the highest entry for Lifehouse this year! While I do feel they've had a few better songs, this was still a strong effort for them, spending a single week at #1 and ranking in the top 30 for the entire year.

27. Marie-Mai - Do You PEAK: #7

I'd enjoyed several of her songs before this in French, but on this one, Québécois singer Marie-Mai branched out into singing in English. The result turned out quite well, and she proved she's just as strong in English as in French, reaching the top 10 on my chart and getting a strong breakthrough.

26. Ryan Star - Breathe PEAK: #6

After getting his start on "Rock Star: Supernova", Ryan Star worked on his debut album "11:59", which saw huge success on my chart with this song, which became one of my favourites from him to date, taking him into the top 10 on my chart for the first time.

25. Adam Lambert - Whataya Want From Me PEAK: #3

Since his debut on American Idol, Adam Lambert has been a strong buzz topic, with his unique fashion sense and music style! This song, written by Pink, helped give him a breakthrough on the charts, and became one of my favourites from him or any American Idol contestant, becoming a top 5 hit on my chart. However, this wasn't it for him...

24. Adam Lambert - If I Had You PEAK: #1 (1 week)

...as Adam Lambert was back once again with this catchy tune! This became my favourite from him overall (though by a slim margin), and became his first #1 on my chart, proving how diverse he can sound! This is only the beginning for him, as I feel he's got a bright career ahead of him!

23. Vertical Horizon - The Middle Ground PEAK: #1 (2 weeks)

One band I'd experienced a renewal of interest in lately is Vertical Horizon, as their new album in 2009, "Burning The Days", started off strong, but I had no idea that this song, "The Middle Ground", would be one I'd like THIS much! It ended up becoming my first #1 hit of 2010, and despite the split in years, still has a respectable position for 2010 alone!

22. Drake - Find Your Love PEAK: #6

Now here's one of my biggest surprises of 2010, for sure! I never thought anything special about Drake, figuring he was just another rapper... but this song definitely proved he could sing as well! Produced by Kanye West, this midtempo R&B song became one of my favourites of the year, and easily remains my favourite Drake song. Who knows if he'll be able to match this in the future?

21. Michelle Branch feat. Timbaland - Getaway PEAK: #1 (3 weeks)

It was clear I'd anticipate anything Michelle Branch does, and this keeps her on the year-end top 100 for a 10th straight year with some song or another! Taking a 180 from her recent trip into country music, she returned with a straight-up pop song produced by Timbaland, and the style worked well for her, giving her yet another #1 on my chart. Ultimately, the competition was so tough that she missed the top 20 year-end, but still scores a respectable position.

20. Taylor Swift - Mine PEAK: #1 (1 week)

Still on top of the pop and country music worlds, Taylor Swift released her album "Speak Now" in 2010, and this lead single "Mine" quickly became one of my favourites from her... and for 2010, it ranks as her highest. "Back To December" has potential to rank very high in 2011!

19. Lady GaGa feat. Beyoncé - Telephone PEAK: #1 (2 weeks)

It was inevitable after all the success she's been having (and surprising it took her this long), but Lady GaGa finally scored her first #1 on my chart in 2010 with "Telephone". Teaming her up with Beyoncé, this became my favourite GaGa song to date, and easily one of my top 20 songs of 2010.

18. Switchfoot - Your Love Is A Song PEAK: #2

After moderate success for me, I was blown away by "Your Love Is A Song", and it quickly became my favourite Switchfoot song ever, surprisingly! It just narrowly missed the #1 spot on my weekly charts, but still ranks within the top 20 for the entire year 2010. Not bad considering I thought they wouldn't have a song I'd like more than "Meant to Live" or "Dare You To move"!

17. Nelly - Just A Dream PEAK: #2

Speaking of surprising comebacks, after a streak of hits in the early 2000's, I thought Nelly was done after several mediocre to horrible songs... but how wrong I was! This song reminded me of how great Nelly was, and still could be, and ended up reaching the runner-up spot on my chart, and becoming one of my favourite Nelly songs ever.

16. Flo Rida feat. David Guetta - Club Can't Handle Me PEAK: #5

While I did hate Flo Rida at first (and in fact, I still hate "Low"), I did warm up to him in 2009 at first... but nothing like this dance floor-ready tune where he teamed up with David Guetta! This became Flo Rida's first ever top 5 hit on my chart, and its longevity propels it up to #16 for the entire year.

15. Sara Bareilles - King of Anything PEAK: #8

From one big breakthrough to another... unfortunately her 2008 hit "Love Song" was cursed for me to split chart runs and therefore couldn't get very high... but all the pieces came together for "King of Anything". While it did take a while for me to warm up to it, it became my favourite from her after not that long.

14. Orianthi - According To You PEAK: #1 (1 week)

She took the world by storm in 2010, and this Australian singer-guitarist delivered this catchy tune showing what she was made of, becoming a #1 for me early in 2010. While she has had some hits afterwards, they haven't been as successful as this one.

13. Stef Lang - Mr. Immature PEAK: #2

While her #1 hit "Slave2Love" was a fair bit lower, this breakthrough single for Canadian singer Stef Lang ranks way up at #13 for the entire year! This catchy pop tune with attitude helped me notice her, and is the start of what will surely be a very promising career!

12. Barenaked Ladies - You Run Away PEAK: #2

I was skeptical at first that the Barenaked Ladies could pull off a career without co-founder Steven Page, but this showed that the rest of the band pulled together to do their best, and still have the same kind of chemistry they always have. This song, while with a more serious sound than their usual humour-filled work, was a worthy comeback for them, giving them a huge #2 hit and ranking as their highest entry for 2010.

11. Kate Voegele - Chicago PEAK: #3

While she had released the album "A Fine Mess" in 2009, this one went back to her first album "Don't Look Away" after I rediscovered how good it was, so I resurrected it and it became another big hit for Kate Voegele. Much like in 2009, she just narrowly misses out on having four songs in the top 10, with her fourth highest entry at #11... but still, three songs in the top 10 is nothing to sniff at!

10. Lady Antebellum - Need You Now PEAK: #2

Picture perfect memories,
Scattered all around the floor.
Reaching for the phone cause, I can't fight it any more.
And I wonder if I ever cross your mind.
For me it happens all the time.

It's a quarter after one, I'm all alone and I need you now.
Said I wouldn't come but I lost all control and I need you now.
And I don't know how I can do without, I just need you now.

Another shot of whiskey, can't stop looking at the door.
Wishing you'd come sweeping in the way you did before.
And I wonder if I ever cross your mind.
For me it happens all the time.

It's a quarter after one, I'm a little drunk,
And I need you now.
Said I wouldn't call but I lost all control and I need you now.
And I don't know how I can do without, I just need you now.

Yes I'd rather hurt than feel nothing at all.
It's a quarter after one, I'm all alone and I need you now.
And I said I wouldn't call but I'm a little drunk and I need you now.
And I don't know how I can do without, I just need you now.
I just need you now.
Oh baby I need you now.

One of the most successful country bands in recent years, Lady Antebellum had a huge mainstream hit with this one, which ended up becoming one of my 10 favourites of the past year. Much like with many country songs, this one was an unexpected surprise for me, but definitely a deserving hit.

9. Katy Perry - Teenage Dream PEAK: #1 (3 weeks)

you think im pretty, without any make-up on
you think im funny, when i tell the punch line wrong
i know you get me, so i'll let my walls come down, down

before you met me i was alright,
but things were kinda heavy,
you brought me to life,
now every february you'll be my valentine, valentine.

lets go all the way tonight,
no regrets, just love,
we can dance untill we die,
you and i, will be young forever,

you make me feel like im living a teenage dream,
the way you turn me on,
i can't sleep,
let's runaway and don't ever look back, don't ever look back

my heart stops, when you look at me,
just one touch and baby i believe this is real,
so take a chance and don't ever look back, don't ever look back.

we drove to Cali, and got drunk on the beach,
got a motel, and built a fort out of sheets,
i finally found you,
my missing puzzle piece,
im complete.

lets go all the way tonight,
no regrets, just love,
we can dance untill we die,
you and i, will be young forever,

you make me feel like im living a teenage dream,
the way you turn me on,
i can't sleep,
let's runaway and don't ever look back, don't ever look back

my heart stops, when you look at me,
just one touch and baby i believe this is real,
so take a chance and don't ever look back, don't ever look back.

ima get your heart racing,
in my skin tight jeans,
be a teenage dream tonight,
let you put your hands on me,
in my skin tight jeans,
be a teenage dream tonight.

you make me feel like im living a teenage dream,
the way you turn me on,
i can't sleep,
let's runaway and don't ever look back, don't ever look back

my heart stops, when you look at me,
just one touch and baby i believe this is real,
so take a chance and don't ever look back, don't ever look back.

ima get your heart racing,
in my skin tight jeans,
be a teenage dream tonight,
let you put your hands on me,
in my skin tight jeans,
be a teenage dream tonight.

It's clear that Katy Perry is one of the top reigning princesses in pop music, and this title track from her second album definitely didn't disappoint me. Fitting right in with her current sound, this song became yet another big hit for her... but as much as I liked this one, there was one other Katy Perry song I liked even more!

8. Marianas Trench & Kate Voegele - Good To You PEAK: #1 (7 weeks)

Everyone's around, no words are coming out.
And I can't find my breathe, can we just say the rest with no sound.
And I know this isn't enough, I still don't measure up.
And I'm not prepared, sorry is never there when you need it.
And I do want you know I hold you up above everyone.
And I do want you know I think you'd be good to me
And I'd be so good to you.
I would.

Thought I saw a sign, somewhere between the lines.
Maybe it's me, maybe I only see, what I want.
But I still have your letter, just got caught between
Someone I just invented, and who I really am and who I've become.

And I do want you know I hold you up above everyone.
And I do want you know I think you'd be good to me
And I'd be so good to you.
Woahh
You bring me higher.
Yeah.
I would.

And I do want you know I hold you up above everyone.
And I do want you know I think you'd be good to me
And I'd be so good to you.
I'd be good to you,
I'd be good to you,
I'd be so good to you...

When I first heard that Kate Voegele had done guest vocals on a Marianas Trench song in 2009, I knew I had to hear it... and sure enough, it was already my favourite from them. Flash forward to 2010, and Marianas Trench recorded a new version as a single with a different singer, but it was this version that charted for me unsurprisingly, and spent 7 weeks at #1 - easily the longest run within 2010. Obviously this is the highest from Marianas Trench, but which 2 Kate songs beat this?

7. Kate Voegele - Who You Are Without Me PEAK: #1 (2 weeks)

you put me up, on a pedestal
i've got nowhere to go but down
you expect, the impossible
and it's too much to carry around

well you tell me i'm beautiful
it feels empty and i dont know why
but it seems that you're certainly
something i'm not gonna find

i'm not you're anchor so dont hold on
i'm not the answer, you got me wrong
i'm not you're savior, save your energy
to find out who you are,
yeah, who you are without me

wide awake, lying next to you
being careful to get the words right
see it hurt me to tell you this
but it kills me to keep it inside
and i'm at one with the present tense
making plans is overrated to me
and i dont speak in guarentees
or atleast not the kind that you need

i'm not you're anchor so dont hold on
i'm not the answer, you got me wrong
i'm not you're savior, save your energy
to find out who you are,
yeah, who you are without me

well i still believe in happy endings
but this just isnt where i wanna spend mine
i'll be leaving now ive said it

i'm not you're anchor so dont hold on
i'm not the answer, you got me wrong
i'm not you're savior, save your energy
and find out who you are , whoah oh

i'm not a mirror, look inside yourself
i'm not a hero, you know too well
i'm not you're savior, save your energy
to find out who you are,
yeah, who you are without me
who you are without me

Well, here's one of the two Kate Voegele songs that beat out "Good To You"! This track from her latest album "A Fine Mess" was instantly one of my favourites when I first heard the album, and remained a favourite of mine... so much so, that despite not being released as a single, it still managed to spend two weeks at #1 on my chart and rank in my top 10 songs of 2010! Still one more Kate song to come, but how high is it?

I wish they all could be
California girls
(Californiaaa)
I really wish
You all could be
California girls
(Californiaaa, yeah)

This song became part of my chart's history as it became only the second song ever to debut at #1 on my chart! It was clear that Katy Perry's return would become anticipated by me, but the degree thereof became apparent when she impacted straight at #1! This anthem for California quickly became a favourite of mine, and is firmly within my top 10 songs of 2010, ranking as Katy's highest entry.

5. Rob Thomas - Mockingbird PEAK: #1 (3 weeks)

Here we stand
Somewhere in between this moment and the end
Will we bend?
Or will we open up and take this whole thing in?
Everybody else is smiling and their smiles don't fade
And you don't even wonder why you just don't think that way
Maybe you and me got lost somewhere, we can't move or we can't stay here
Well maybe we've just had enough, well maybe we ain't meant for this love
You and me tried everything
But still that mocking bird wont sing
Well man this life seems hard enough
Well maybe we ain't meant for this love

Take my hand
And I will lead you through the broken promise land
Yes I can, ah yes I can
I can be there when you need it, I'll give it all till you can't feel it anymore
I don't wanna love you now, if you'll just leave someday
I don't wanna turn around, if you'll just walk away
Maybe you and me got lost somewhere, we can't move or we can't stay here
Well maybe we've just had enough, well maybe we ain't meant for this love
You and me tried everything
But still that mocking bird wont sing
Well man this life seems hard enough
Well maybe we ain't meant for this love

Maybe you and me got lost somewhere, we can't move or we can't stay here
Well maybe we've just had enough, well maybe we ain't meant for this love
You and me tried everything
But still that mocking bird wont sing
Well man this life seems hard enough
Well maybe we ain't meant for this love

Maybe we ain't meant for this love
Maybe we ain't meant for this love

I've always enjoyed the music of Rob Thomas... and this was one of my favourites on his "Cradlesong" album. So naturally, when it became a single, it flew up my chart, and ended up spending three weeks at #1 on my chart. Definitely one of my favourites of his solo career to date, and a worthy inclusion in my top five tunes of the year!

4. Maroon 5 - Misery PEAK: #1 (4 weeks)

So scared of breaking it
But you won't let it bend
And I wrote two hundred letters
I will never send

Sometimes these cuts are so much
deeper than they seem
You'd rather cover up
I'd rather let them be

So let me be and I'll set you free
I am in misery
There ain't nobody who can comfort me (oh yeah)
Why won't you answer me?
The silence is slowly killing me (oh yeah)

Girl you really got me bad
You really got me bad
I'm gonna get you back
Gonna get you back

Your salty skin and how it mixes in with mine
The way it feels to be completely intertwined
Not that I didn't care
It's that I didn't know
It's not what I didn't feel
It's what I didn't show

So let me be and I'll set you free
I am in misery
There ain't nobody who can comfort me (oh yeah)
Why won't you answer me?
The silence is slowly killing me (oh yeah)

Girl you really got me bad
You really got me bad
I'm gonna get you back
Gonna get you back

Say your faith is shaken
You may be mistaken
You keep me wide awake
and waiting for the sun
I'm desperate and confused
So far away from you
I'm getting there
I don't care where I have to go

Why do you do what you do to me, yeah?
Why won't you answer me, answer me, yeah? (x2)

I am in misery
There ain't nobody who can comfort me (oh yeah)
Why won't you answer me?
The silence is slowly killing me (oh yeah)

Girl you really got me bad
You really got me bad
I'm gonna get you back
Gonna get you back (x4)

Maroon 5 has been one of my favourite groups of recent years, and 2010 was the year they released the album "Hands All Over". As usual, they failed to disappoint with the overall package, and I feel that this lead single was the best on there. This is their third top 5 year-end placing, and they all happened three years apart (She Will Be Loved in 2004 and Wake Up Call in 2007), further showing their continued strength.

3. Kate Voegele - Inside Out PEAK: #1 (6 weeks)

In fairness I was an easy sell
Though I'm embarrassed
To admit it to myself
And the worst part is
You know it all too well
So don't take advantage
Of my transparent shell, no

But I think you know what I need
Impossible as it may seem
And I think it's easy to see

I am awake, it's getting late
I'm in no state to be alone now
Yeah, I'm alone now
Come light the fire in my room
I think I'm losing all control now
I don't even know how
But I'm in your rip tide
And now I'm inside out

I'm in the corner of the street cafe
And my heart is warmer
Since I heard from you today

Like a shallow creek I am gleaming
No chance of keeping any secrets
Have I lost enough security yet?

I am awake, it's getting late
I'm in no state to be alone now
Yeah, I'm alone now
Come light the fire in my room
I think I'm losing all control now
I don't even know how
But I'm in your rip tide
And now I'm inside out

I tried to hide it, I can't deny it
Now I'm inside out
Say you love me, yeah, all or nothing (oh)
Now I'm inside out

I am awake, it's getting late
I'm in no state to be alone now
Yeah, I'm alone now
Come light the fire in my room
I think I'm losing all control now
I don't even know how

I am awake, it's getting late
I'm in no state to be alone now
Yeah, I'm alone now
Come light the fire in my room
I think I'm losing all control now
I don't even know how
But I'm in your rip tide
And now I'm inside out

Well, here's the big surprise... after scoring the #1 songs of both 2008 (Only Fooling Myself) and 2009 (99 Times), Kate Voegele crashes out at #3 for 2010 with "Inside Out"! This was one of my absolute favourites on her CD "A Fine Mess", and one that I was happy to get a single release... but unfortunately for her, it was released too late in 2009 to get any higher than #49, and in 2010, it gets #3. Had it been entirely within a single year, it likely would've been #1 for either year... but in 2010, two other songs manage to beat out Kate for the top 2! Who could've done such an unspeakable act?

2. Colbie Caillat - I Never Told You PEAK: #1 (4 weeks)

I miss those blue eyes, how you kiss me at night
I miss the way we sleep
Like there's no sunrise, like the taste of your smile
I miss the way we breathe

But I never told you
What I should have said
But I never told you
I just held it in

And now, I miss everything about you
I can't believe that I still want you
After all the things we've been through
I miss everything about you, without you

I see your blue eyes, everytime I close mine
You make it hard to see
Where I belong to, when I'm not around you
It's like I'm not with me

But I never told you
What I should have said
No I never told you
I just held it in

And now, I miss everything about you (still you're gone)
I can't believe that I still want you (and loving you, I never should have walked away)
After all the things we've been through
I miss everything about you, without you

But I never told you
What I should have said
No I never told you
I just held it in

And now, I miss everything about you (still you're gone)
I can't believe that I still want you (and loving you, I never should have walked away)
After all the things we've been through
I miss everything about you, without you

This sentimental ballad quickly became one of my favourite songs from Colbie Caillat, primarily on the strength of the lyrics and its laid-back feel. While I had enjoyed many of her songs before (especially the #1 hit "Realize"), this ended up being my favourite from her overall... and for the entire year 2010, it finished at the runner-up spot. Who could've beaten out Colbie for the #1 spot?

1. Adelitas Way - Last Stand PEAK: #1 (4 weeks)

I'm all alone, you're far away
I never learned from my mistakes
I should have known just what to say
To make you wanna stay

You were always the one giving
I was always there to take it
Take your heart and break it

And I'll never make it without you
I need a second chance
'Cause I wanna make it about you
I'll make it my last stand

It took a moment to see
It wasn't you, it was me
I couldn't let you in

Now I'm ashamed
I pushed you away from me
Now I'm afraid it's too late to save again

Miss you the most when I sleep
You turn my nightmares into dreams
Can't lose hope, it's killing me
I'm the one who made you leave

But if I just take a chance now
Open up and finally reach out
Can I save it all somehow?

And I'll never make it without you
I need a second chance
'Cause I want to make it about you
I'll make it my last stand

It took a moment to see
It wasn't you, it was me
I couldn't let you in

Now I'm ashamed
I pushed you away from me
Now I'm afraid it's too late to save again

I'm all alone, you're far away
I finally found the words to say

And I'll never make it without you
I need a second chance
'Cause I want to make it about you
I'll make it my last stand

It took a moment to see
It wasn't you, it was me
I couldn't let you in

Now I'm ashamed
I pushed you away from me
Now I'm afraid it's too late to save again

Won't be afraid, won't push you away

...and here it is, my #1 song of 2010!

When I first heard this song very late last year, I knew it had something special. This power ballad had it all: great lyrics coupled with a talented vocalist and a killer guitar solo in the bridge. The vocals are very reminiscent of other bands I'd enjoyed such as Daughtry (especially in the verses) and Hinder (especially in the chorus), and it seemed to have all the makings of a classic.

This song helped me notice the new Las Vegas band Adelitas Way... and what an impact the song had! It would go on to spend four weeks at #1 on my chart, 21 weeks in my top 10 (tied for the record) and 39 weeks in my top 100 (the most of any song in 2010). And while it failed to catch on in the real world, it had become a hit on several personal charts, mine included... but on my chart, "Last Stand" takes the ultimate prize as my #1 song of the entire year 2010! Congratulations to Rick DeJesus, Creighton Bibbs, Keith Wallen, Derek Johnston and Trevor Stafford for a song well done, and here's to a bright future as they prepare their next album!
