21. Aerosmith feat. Carrie Underwood - Can't Stop Lovin' You PEAK: #3

20. Bush feat. Gwen Stefani - Glycerine PEAK: #3

In 2012, the 90's post-grunge band Bush recorded a live version of their 1996 hit "Glycerine" with Gwen Stefani, the wife of lead singer Gavin Rossdale, for an annual Christmas concert presented by Los Angeles radio station KROQ. They released their performance as a single, and I felt it was a good updated rendition of their classic. It would become one of my favourites of the early part of the year, reaching #3 on my weekly chart.

19. Alyssa Reid - Satisfaction Guaranteed PEAK: #1 (2 weeks)

Over the past few years, 20-year-old Canadian singer Alyssa Reid has become one of my favourites. This song, which will appear on her second album due for release this spring, was an instant favourite upon its release, spending two weeks at #1, becoming her fourth so far. For the past 11 weeks, it has been in my top 5, and as it is still riding high on my chart, it could make another appearance on my top 100 of 2014 as well! Of course, a rather humourous music video helps as well!

18. Austin Mahone - What About Love PEAK: #1 (2 weeks)

He'd already released a few singles before this, but this RedOne-produced track became the real breakthrough for 17-year-old Texas-based singer Austin Mahone. It quickly caught on for me mostly due to its resemblance to late 90's teen pop songs, keeping the sound updated for 2013 and spending two non-consecutive weeks at #1 over the summer. I hope in the future, he does more songs with this sound as it clearly worked well for him!

17. Carly Rae Jepsen - Take A Picture PEAK: #1 (2 weeks)

And here's the song that interrupted Austin Mahone's run at #1! Ever since her huge hit "Call Me Maybe", Carly Rae Jepsen had a streak of hits on my chart where she appeared every single week during a 2-year span, and this non-album single was one of my favourites of the summer, reaching #1 the weekend I saw her live in concert. She still has one more song to come in the top 20, a case where a non-#1 outlasts a #1 due to overall longevity!

16. Ellie Goulding - Burn PEAK: #1 (1 week)

I'd never really been a huge fan of Ellie Goulding before, finding her music to be just merely okay. However, this song, co-written with Ryan Tedder, quickly changed that. While it had a relatively slow rise to #1 for my chart's standards, it became my favourite from her by far and likely outcharting the rest of her songs put together! Hopefully she has more songs like this in the future, as it's looking bright for her!

15. Imagine Dragons - Demons PEAK: #1 (2 weeks)

In 2012, Las Vegas-based indie rock band Imagine Dragons burst onto the scene with their breakthrough single "It's Time". Success continued into 2013 as "Radioactive" was a huge airplay hit, however, it was this ballad, "Demons", that really resonated with me. It quickly became my favourite from them, rising to #1 in September and staying there for two weeks.

14. Demi Lovato - Heart By Heart PEAK: #1 (3 weeks)

If there's one songwriter who's known for writing memorable ballads for movie soundtracks, it really has to be Diane Warren! This time, she worked her magic for Demi Lovato, whose vocal abilities suited this song very well for the soundtrack for the film "The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones". Given Demi's success up to that point on my chart (this became her fourth #1 - "Neon Lights", which will appear on my 2014 year-end, has since given her a fifth #1), it was the right choice as this became one of my favourites from her so far.

13. Avicii feat. Aloe Blacc - Wake Me Up PEAK: #1 (1 week)

As one of the biggest DJ's in the electronic dance music scene, Swedish DJ Avicii has also experimented with different sounds. This one, which featured vocals from American soul singer Aloe Blacc, had a very wide appeal to fans of mainstream music with its catchy melody and dance beats based around a loop of a common four-chord progression. It would eventually give Avicii his biggest hit so far on my chart, reaching #1 for a single week and spending 27 weeks so far on my chart, but the success hasn't stopped here - the country-influenced "Hey Brother" has picked up right where this left off, and will likely end up on my top 100 of 2014.

12. Kelly Clarkson - Tie It Up PEAK: #1 (1 week)

In 2013, Kelly Clarkson married her longtime boyfriend Brandon Blackstock, and this upbeat country song was pretty much her anecdote for it! "Tie It Up" pretty much showed her excitement about the big day, and proved that no matter whether she does pop or country music, I'd retain the same enthusiasm about her music! This became her 15th #1 on my chart in August (only Britney Spears, with 19, has more), and has ensured that Kelly has remained a very strong core artist, as despite only spending 1 week at #1 (her only single to do so), it has kept her streak of 14 out of her 15 #1's ranking within the top 12 on their year-end charts. (Only "Catch My Breath", which was split between 2012 and 2013, didn't, but would've if its chart run was in just 1 year.)

11. Alyssa Reid - Running Guns PEAK: #1 (2 weeks)

While I do prefer her lower-ranked "Satisfaction Guaranteed", it was this, the lead single from her second album to be released in 2014, that ranked higher due to its timing placing its entire chart run in 2013. Anticipation was high for this given my interest in her previous music, and Alyssa Reid surely didn't disappoint, as this would go on to spend two weeks at #1 on my chart. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite enough for top 10 of the year... so 10 really good songs must've kept her out!

10. Nikki Williams - Glowing PEAK: #3

This is my confessional
Seven seconds 'til I hit the ground,
But you saved my life
Now I feel indestructible
So protected when you're around,
Yeah, you saved my life

You make me, you make me feel so incredible
You and I, you and I feels – unbelievable
You make it, you make it so undeniable

A million hearts, you're the only one
Who lights it up like I'm glowing in the dark
A million hearts, you're the only one
Who lights me up, like I'm glowing in the dark

This is my confessional
Seven seconds 'til I hit the ground
But you saved my life
Now I feel indestructible
So protected when you're around
Yeah, you saved my life

You make me, you make me feel so incredible
You and I, you and I – feels unbelievable
You make it, you make it so undeniable

A million hearts, you're the only one
Who lights it up, like I'm glowing in the dark
A million hearts you're the only one
Who lights me up, like I'm glowing in the dark

This is my confessional
Seven seconds 'til I hit the ground
But you saved my life
Now I feel indestructible
So protected when you're around
Yeah, you saved my life

A million hearts, you're the only one
Who lights it up, like I'm glowing in the dark
A million hearts you're the only one
Who lights me up, like I'm glowing in the dark

A million hearts, you're the only one
Who lights it up, like I'm glowing in the dark
A million hearts you're the only one
Who lights me up, like I'm glowing in the dark

At #10 is my top song by a new artist! South African singer Nikki Williams had a great start to her career in 2013, and this catchy pop song, while originally slow to catch my attention, impressed me with its longevity! While it only managed a #3 peak, she did manage a very long chart run of 29 weeks, which was enough to push her into the top 10 of the entire year! This is her highest (and actually, only) entry as a vocalist, but she did contribute to the writing of Demi Lovato's "Heart Attack", which is still to come.

9. Bruno Mars - Treasure PEAK: #1 (3 weeks)

Give me your, give me your, give me your attention, baby
I gotta tell you a little something about yourself
You're wonderful, flawless, ooh, you're a sexy lady
But you walk around here like you wanna be someone else

(Oh whoa-oh-oh)
I know that you don't know it, but you're fine, so fine (fine, so fine)
(Oh whoa-oh-oh)
Oh girl, I'm gonna show you when you're mine, oh mine (mine, oh mine)

Treasure, that is what you are
Honey, you're my golden star
You know you can make my wish come true
If you let me treasure you
If you let me treasure you

(Whoa-oh-oh-h-h-h)

Pretty girl, pretty girl, pretty girl, you should be smiling
A girl like you should never look so blue
You're everything I see in my dreams
I wouldn't say that to you if it wasn't true

(Oh whoa-oh-oh)
I know that you don't know it, but you're fine, so fine (fine, so fine)
(Oh whoa-oh-oh)
Oh girl, I'm gonna show you when you're mine, oh mine (mine, oh mine)

Treasure, that is what you are
Honey, you're my golden star
You know you can make my wish come true
If you let me treasure you
If you let me treasure you

(Whoa-oh-oh-h-h-h)

You are my treasure, you are my treasure
You are my treasure, yeah, you, you, you, you are
You are my treasure, you are my treasure
You are my treasure, yeah, you, you, you, you are

Treasure, that is what you are
Honey, you're my golden star
You know you could make my wish come true
If you let me treasure you
If you let me treasure you

(whoa-oh-oh-h-h-h)

In 2013, one of the biggest trends was the "retro" sound, as this classic funk groove became my favourite from Bruno Mars to date! While he's generally had at least moderate success on my chart so far, this song really kicked it up to another level, as it wasted no time reaching my #1 spot, where he stayed for 3 weeks in July. Not surprisingly, it's his highest ranked overall; it is also the highest ranked entry by a solo male artist. Aside from one song by a male group and one male/female duet, the other six songs in the top 8 are all by female artists.

8. Katy Perry - Roar PEAK: #1 (3 weeks)

I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath
Scared to rock the boat and make a mess
So I sat quietly, agreed politely
I guess that I forgot I had a choice
I let you push me past the breaking point
I stood for nothing, so I fell for everything

You held me down, but I got up (HEY!)
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice, you hear that sound
Like thunder gonna shake the ground
You held me down, but I got up (HEY!)
Get ready 'cause I’ve had enough
I see it all, I see it now

[Chorus]
I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
'Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
'Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You’re gonna hear me roar

Now I’m floating like a butterfly
Stinging like a bee I earned my stripes
I went from zero, to my own hero

You held me down, but I got up (HEY!)
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice, you hear that sound
Like thunder gonna shake the ground
You held me down, but I got up (HEY!)
Get ready ’cause I’ve had enough
I see it all, I see it now

[Chorus]
I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You'll hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You're gonna hear me roar...

Ro-oar, ro-oar, ro-oar, ro-oar, ro-oar

I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You'll hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You're gonna hear me roar...

At #8 is an empowering anthem from Katy Perry! This song, as I'd highly anticipated, caught on with me immediately, and debuted at #1 on my chart upon its release, which was the second time she had done it ("California Gurls" also debuted at #1 in 2010). This song has re-affirmed why Katy Perry has been one of my favourite singers of the past few years, and its instant classic status has helped it get heard at sporting events already.

7. Carly Rae Jepsen - Tonight I'm Getting Over You PEAK: #2

I wanna smash your fears
And get drunken off your tears
Don't you share your smile with anyone else but me
I wanna touch your heart
I wanna crush it in my hands
Make you plead and cry as you give up all the lies

We're not lovers
But more than friends
Put a flame to every single word you ever said
No more crying
To get me through
I'll keep dancing till the morning with somebody new
Tonight I'm getting over you
Tonight I'm getting over you
Tonight I'm getting over you
Tonight I'm getting over you
Over you
Over you

Stuck in a real bad dream
And man, it feels so new to me
Should be in your arms but I'm begging at your feet
It's been a real hard night
And I just hold my pillow tight
You won't love me back, no,
It's not you and I

We're not lovers
But more than friends
Put a flame to every single word you ever said
No more cryin’ (no more cryin’) to get me through (to get me through)
I'll keep dancing till the morning with somebody new
Tonight I'm getting over you
Tonight I'm getting over you
Tonight I'm getting over you
Tonight I'm getting over you
Over you
Over you
Tonight I'm getting over you
Tonight I'm getting over you
Tonight I'm getting over you
Over you
Over you

[in the background: "Tonight I'm getting over you."]
We're not lovers
But more than friends
Put a flame to every single word you ever said
No more crying
To get me through
I'll keep dancing till the morning with somebody new
Tonight I'm getting over you

At #7 is a breakup anthem from Carly Rae Jepsen, showing the positive side of moving on from a relationship that wasn't working out. Despite only peaking at #2 (Demi Lovato blocked her with "Heart Attack"), it was her longevity in the top 10 (16 weeks - more than any other song in 2013!) that helped her rank this high on the year-end. From here on in, the top 6 are all #1 songs!

6. Britt Nicole - Gold PEAK: #1 (3 weeks)

Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh

You were walking on the moon, now you're feeling low
What they said wasn't true, you're beautiful
Sticks and stones break your bones, I know what you're feeling
Words like those won't steal your glow, you're one in a million

This, this is for all the girls, boys all over the world
Whatever you've been told, you're worth more than gold
So hold your head up high, it's your time to shine
From the inside out it shows, you're worth more than gold
(Gold gold, you're gold)
You're worth more than gold
(Gold gold, you're gold)

Well everybody keeps score, afraid you're gonna lose
Just ignore they don't know the real you
All the rain in the sky can't put out your fire
Of all the stars out tonight, you shine brighter

This, this is for all the girls, boys all over the world
Whatever you've been told, you're worth more than gold
So hold your head up high, it's your time to shine
From the inside out it shows, you're worth more than gold
(Gold gold, you're gold)
You're worth more than gold
(Gold gold, you're gold)

So don't let anybody tell you that you're not loved
And don't let anybody tell you that you're not enough
Yeah there are days that we all feel like we're messed up
But the truth is that we're all diamonds in the rough
So don't be ashamed to wear your crown
You're a king you're a queen inside and out
You glow like the moon, you shine like the stars
This is for you, wherever you are

Oh, oh, yeah, yeah, oh, oh,
You're gold

This, this is for all the girls, boys all over the world
Whatever you've been told, you're worth more than gold
(So hold your head) So hold your head up high,
It's your time to shine
From the inside out it shows, you're worth more than gold
(gold gold, you're gold)
You're worth more than gold
(gold gold you're gold)

So don't be ashamed to wear your crown
You're a king you're a queen inside and out

At #6 is the popular contemporary Christian singer, Britt Nicole! She's been one I've liked for several years, but this song, with themes of self-empowerment and encouragement, became my favourite from her, reaching the #1 spot for 3 weeks last January and ranking among my top 10 favourites of the entire year.

5. Maroon 5 - Love Somebody PEAK: #1 (2 weeks)

I know your insides are feeling so hollow
And it's a hard pill for you to swallow, yeah
But if I fall for you, I'll never recover
If I fall for you, I'll never be the same

I really wanna love somebody
I really wanna dance the night away
I know we're only half way there
But you can take me all the way, you can take me all the way
I really wanna touch somebody
I'll think about you every single day
I know we're only half way there
But you can take me all the way, you can take me all the way

You're such a hard act for me to follow
Love me today, don't leave me tomorrow, yeah
But if I fall for you, I'll never recover
If I fall for you, I'll never be the same

I really wanna love somebody
I really wanna dance the night away
I know we're only half way there
But you can take me all the way, you can take me all the way
I really wanna touch somebody
I'll think about you every single day
I know we're only half way there
But you can take me all the way, you can take me all the way
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

I don't know where to start, I'm just a little lost
I wanna feel like we never gonna ever stop
I don't know what to do, I'm right in front of you
Asking you to stay, you should stay, stay with me tonight, yeah

I really wanna love somebody
I really wanna dance the night away
I know we're only half way there
But you can take me all the way, you can take me all the way
I really wanna touch somebody
I'll think about you every single day
I know we're only half way there
But you can take me all the way, you can take me all the way
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

You can take me all the way, you can take me all the way, yeah.

I've enjoyed Maroon 5's music for over a decade now, and it seems like every album, I like a single from a different stage of the best. From "Songs About Jane", it was the third single "She Will Be Loved". From "It Won't Be Soon Before Long", it was the second single, "Wake Up Call". From "Hands All Over", it was the first single, "Misery". From the fourth and latest album "Overexposed", it was this fourth single, "Love Somebody" that I liked the best. It spent 2 weeks at #1 in May, and firmly ranks among my 5 favourites of 2013.

4. Demi Lovato - Heart Attack PEAK: #1 (3 weeks)

Puttin’ my defenses up
‘Cause I don’t wanna fall in love
If I ever did that
I think I’d have a heart attack

Never put my love out on the line
Never said "Yes" to the right guy
Never had trouble getting what I want
But when it comes to you, I’m never good enough

When I don’t care
I can play ‘em like a Ken doll
Won’t wash my hair
Then make 'em bounce like a basketball

But you make me wanna act like a girl
Paint my nails and wear high heels
Yes, you make me so nervous
That I just can’t hold your hand

You make me glow,
But I cover up
Won’t let it show,
So I’m...

Puttin’ my defenses up
'Cause I don’t wanna fall in love
If I ever did that
I think I’d have a heart attack [3x]

Never break a sweat for the other guys
When you come around, I get paralyzed
And every time I try to be myself
It comes out wrong like a cry for help

It's just not fair
Pain's more trouble than love is worth
I gasp for air
It feels so good, but you know it hurts

But you make me wanna act like a girl
Paint my nails and wear perfume for you
Make me so nervous
That I just can’t hold your hand

You make me glow,
But I cover up
Won’t let it show,
So I’m...

Puttin’ my defenses up
'Cause I don’t wanna fall in love
If I ever did that
I think I’d have a heart attack [3x]

The feelings got lost in my lungs
They’re burning, I’d rather be numb
And there’s no one else to blame (no one else)
So scared I take off and i run
I’m flying too close to the sun
And I burst into flames

You make me glow,
But I cover up
Won’t let it show,
So I’m...

Puttin’ my defenses up
‘Cause I don’t wanna fall in love
If I ever did that
I think I’d have a heart attack [5x]

In 2013, Demi Lovato released her fourth album "Demi". Its lead single caught on instantly for me, building off of the success of her previous two #1's on my chart, and made the second biggest climb to #1 in my chart's history, leaping from #37 to #1 where she stayed for three weeks. This song, about the dangers of falling in love, fit Demi's style perfectly, and set the stage for my favourite album so far from her.

3. Colbie Caillat & Gavin DeGraw - We Both Know PEAK: #1 (4 weeks)

[Verse 1:]
[Gavin]
They all say it
All the ones that made it
Once you find the one you claim it
But you're gonna have to fight

[Colbie]
When I think back
The things that threw us off track
We handled like a heart attack
Cause we didn't see the light

[Both]
Oh, yeah, now

[Chorus:]
[Both]
We both, know our
Own limitations, that's why we're strong
Now that we spent some time apart
We're leading each other, out of the dark
Cause we both know

[Verse 2:]
[Gavin]
From this moment
Forget what we were scared of
Say we're never giving up
You say you'll always

[Both]
Try to be my

[Both]
Helping hand
Try to be the one who understands
When things don't go as you've planned
We're still worth it all

Oh, yeah, now...

[Chorus:]
[Both]
We both, know our
Own limitations, that's why we're strong
Now that we've spent some time apart
We're leading each other, out of the dark
Cause we both know

[Bridge:]
[Both]
What we're scared of (what we're scared of)
And what dreams are made of (what dreams are made of)
They can take us further than what anybody can see, yeah

[Chorus:]
[Both]
We both, know our
Own limitations, and that's why we're strong
Now that we've spent some time apart
We're leading each other, out of the dark

We both (we both), know our (know our)
Own limitations, and that's why we're strong
Now that we've spent some time apart
We're leading each other, out of the dark
Cause we both know

[Both]
We both know.

For the movie "Safe Haven", Colbie Caillat and Gavin DeGraw, Hot AC singer-songwriters who were touring together, wrote and sang this song together. Written about how time apart can really help reflect on roles in a relationship, this ballad became one of my favourites from both artists. It caught on very quickly for me, spending 4 weeks at #1 last winter and ranks as my third favourite of 2013.

So this leaves two female singers, both from Texas. But who got #1? Kelly Clarkson or Selena Gomez?

2. Kelly Clarkson - People Like Us PEAK: #1 (4 weeks)

We come into this world unknown
But know that we are not alone
They try and knock us down
But change is coming, it's our time now

Hey… everybody loses it,
Everybody wants to throw it all away sometimes
And hey… yeah I know what you're going through
Don't let it get the best of you, you'll make it out alive
Oh

People like us, we've gotta stick together
Keep your head up, nothing lasts forever
Here's to the damned, to the lost and forgotten
It's hard to get high when you're living on the bottom

Oh whoa oh oh whoa oh
We are all misfits living in a world on fire
Oh whoa oh oh whoa oh
Sing it for the people like us, the people like us

Hey, this is not a funeral
It's a revolution, after all your tears have turned to rage
Just wait, everything will be okay
Even when you're feeling like it's going down in flames
Oh

People like us, we've gotta stick together
Keep your head up nothing lasts forever
Here's to the damned, to the lost and forgotten
It's hard to get high when you're living on the bottom

Oh whoa oh oh whoa oh
We are all misfits living in a world on fire
Oh whoa oh oh whoa oh
Sing it for the people like us, the people like us

Oh whoa oh oh whoa oh
You've just gotta turn it up loud when the flames get higher
Oh whoa oh oh whoa oh
Sing it for the people like us, the people like us

They can't do nothing to you, they can't do nothing to me
This is the life that we choose, this is the life that we bleed
So throw your fists in the air, come out, come out if you dare
Tonight we're gonna change forever

Everybody loses it, everybody wants to throw it all away sometimes
Oh

People like us, we've gotta stick together
Keep your head up nothing lasts forever
Here's to the damned, to the lost and forgotten
It's hard to get high when you're living on the bottom

Oh whoa oh oh whoa oh
We are all misfits living in a world on fire
Oh whoa oh oh whoa oh
Sing it for the people like us, the people like us

Oh whoa oh oh whoa oh
You've just got to turn it up loud when the flames get higher
Oh whoa oh oh whoa oh
Sing it for the people like us, the people like us

Oh whoa oh oh whoa oh
We're all misfits living in a world on fire
Oh whoa oh oh whoa oh
Sing it for the people like us, the people like us

Oh whoa oh oh whoa oh
You've just got to turn it up loud when the flames get higher
Oh whoa oh oh whoa oh
Sing it for the people like us, the people like us

In 2013, the longest running #1 songs spent 4 weeks on top, and Kelly Clarkson's anthem "People Like Us" was one that had such longevity at the top. The empowering lyrics and catchy beat helped make this yet another memorable song from her, and much like many other songs from her, this had no problem reaching #1. While in 2012, she had the #1 song of the year with "Dark Side", she falls just short for 2013, much like 2005's "Behind These Hazel Eyes" and 2009's "My Life Would Suck Without You", both of which were #2 for their respective years.

1. Selena Gomez - Come And Get It PEAK: #1 (2 weeks)

[2x]
When you're ready come and get it
Na na na na [3x]

When you're ready
When you're ready
When you're ready come and get it
Na na na na [3x]

You ain't gotta worry, it's an open invitation
I'll be sittin' right here, real patient
All day, all night, I'll be waitin' standby
Can't stop because I love it, hate the way I love you
All day, all night, maybe I'm addicted for life, no lie.

I'm not too shy to show I love you, I got no regrets.
I love you much, too much to hide you, this love ain't finished yet.
This love ain't finished yet…
So baby whenever you're ready…

[2x]
When you're ready come and get it
Na na na na [3x]

When you're ready
When you're ready
When you're ready come and get it
Na na na na [3x]

You got the kind of love that I want, let me get that. (Let me get that yeah)
And baby once I get it, I'm yours no take backs.
Gon' love you for life, I ain't leaving your side
Even if you knock it, ain't no way to stop it
Forever you're mine, baby I'm addicted, no lie, no lie.

I'm not too shy to show I love you, I got no regrets.
So baby whenever you're ready…

[2x]
When you're ready come and get it
Na na na na [3x]

When you're ready
When you're ready
When you're ready come and get it
Na na na na [3x]

This love will be the death of me
But I know I'll die happily
I'll know, I'll know, I'll know
Because you love me so… yeah!

[2x]
When you're ready come and get it
Na na na na [3x]

When you're ready
When you're ready
When you're ready come and get it (when you're ready come and get it)
Na na na na [3x]

So in the end, it came right down to the wire, as this year's #1 didn't even have a lock on it until its last week on the chart!

Over the past four years, Selena Gomez has had a streak of hits on my chart, including several top 10's. However, it wasn't until she released this in 2013 when she finally got a #1 hit. The song, written by Ester Dean and produced by Stargate, drew upon Bollywood influences to create a catchy rhythm; this, combined with its slightly suggestive lyrics "When you're ready, come and get it" that could have been directed towards her ex, Justin Bieber, though she herself has denied this.

Ultimately, this became my favourite from her so far, and due to its 29-week chart run, 15 of which were top 10, 13 weeks top 5 and 2 weeks at #1, it was just enough to push Selena Gomez over the top and claim my #1 of 2013!
