11. Carly Rae Jepsen - I Really Like You PEAK: #2

10. Scorpions - Eye Of The Storm PEAK: #1 (2 weeks)

Well, who saw this coming? I've always liked a few of this German rock band's 80's and 90's classics, but I never would've thought they'd do stuff that was just as good as their old stuff! This power ballad hit right where previous single "We Built This House" left off, and became one of my favourite songs from them ever, quickly rising to #1 on my chart where it stayed for two weeks. All in all, the "Return To Forever" era was a strong one for the Scorpions, and they show it by kicking off my top 10 for the year!

9. Kelly Clarkson - Dance With Me PEAK: #1 (2 weeks)

As always, whenever Kelly Clarkson releases a new album, my ears are glued to it. "Piece By Piece" is no exception, as three songs from the album rank in my year-end top 10! This upbeat pop/dance tune was an instant highlight for me, and when I charted it over the summer, it would have two weeks at #1 on my chart, and a strong enough chart run to make it to #9 for the entire year. Did either "Heartbeat Song" or "Invincible" top for the entire year?

8. Collective Soul - This PEAK: #1 (2 weeks)

Another band with past success, American alternative rockers Collective Soul had a very impressive streak of hits back in the mid-90's, and I've managed to keep an interest in their music ever since. However, this lead single from "See What You Started By Continuing" exceeded all my expectations, at first I thought it would merely hit the top 10 on my chart. It just kept on climbing though, and reached #1 back in October for two weeks. Pretty strong comeback!

7. Tyler Shaw - House Of Cards PEAK: #1 (2 weeks)

Now we're to a relative newcomer; this artist from Coquitlam, BC is only 22 years old but already has a very impressive streak of hits on my chart, most of his singles so far reaching the top 10. I always knew had potential for that really big hit, which he delivered here! This pop ballad became a fast favourite for me, quickly rising to #1, where he stayed for two weeks. His debut album "Yesterday" was released this year, and if his success so far is any indication, I'm expecting many more hits where this came from.

6. Alyssa Reid feat. The Heist - Dangerous PEAK: #1 (1 week)

Another young Canadian singer with an impressive hit streak here, Alyssa Reid is also 22 years old. "Dangerous" became her sixth #1 so far this past September, and this lead-off track from her "Phoenix" album also has the distinction of becoming her first ever year-end top 10! She's come close a few times, and indeed, this wasn't her best chart performer, but some of her other songs straddled two years. Well done Alyssa, it's been well deserved!

5. Carly Rae Jepsen - Run Away With Me PEAK: #1 (2 weeks)

If there was one pleasant surprise in 2015, it's that Carly Rae Jepsen was able to make such a strong return! I really enjoyed her previous album "Kiss" and its singles, but figured it might be a fluke... thankfully for me, it wasn't! The "E-MO-TION" era exceeded all my expectations, having this song reach #1 in late August/early September and became my 5th biggest hit of 2015!

4. Kelly Clarkson - Heartbeat Song PEAK: #1 (6 weeks)

Kelly Clarkson's return was highly anticipated by me, as always. In 2015, the "Piece By Piece" era gave her four #1's, putting her in a tie for most #1's ever on my chart (she's up to 19 now.) This lead single debuted at #1 for me, lasting 6 weeks on top and becoming one of my favourites of the year, holding up fairly well. It's not her highest entry for 2015 though, despite being the longest running #1 within 2015.

3. Kate Voegele - Ooh La La PEAK: #1 (3 weeks)

Oh here she is, what would this chart be without Kate Voegele? What may be the most astonishing fact is that, despite being my all time favourite singer, she's never had two songs in the same year-end top 5 before until this year? Hard to believe, but it's true! Late in 2014, Kate released her "Wild Card" EP, which had success continuing into 2015! This song spent 3 weeks at #1 in August, and has become one of my favourites from her to date, but it's not her highest ranking here!

2. Kate Voegele - Carousel PEAK: #1 (5 weeks)

And here she is again! In the runner-up spot is this singer who had my #1 songs of 2008, 2009 and 2011! She came close for 2015, but her song "Carousel", which was a big spring hit for me, has to settle for the runner-up spot. Spending a total of five weeks at #1, this song proved that Kate has still got what it takes to make a song I will love... but I really had no doubt that she would whenever she came back! This upbeat song with a catchy melody and emotional lyrics really has all the elements of a great Kate Voegele song.

1. Kelly Clarkson - Invincible PEAK: #1 (3 weeks)

Well, if anyone other than Kate has my year-end #1... well, it's gotta be Kelly, doesn't it?

It was a tough call, but ultimately, this empowering anthem has become my top song of 2015.

Lyrically, it's one of Kelly's best so far... and if there's any common thread to my favourite songs of hers, it's deep, emotional lyrics. This song shows off her vocal skills very well, and the ability to convey emotion from deep inside her heart through lyrics co-written by Sia. It really has the whole package to appeal deeply with me, and while it only spent 3 weeks at #1 back in March/April, its overall longevity in the top 10 and the entire chart was enough to give Kelly her second year-end #1 to date, following 2012's "Dark Side". Well done Kelly, once again you have my #1 of the year!
