 Kate Voegele debuts at #1 with "The Best Part", total extends to 28

It's been far too long since a new release from Kate Voegele - indeed, three years since "This Is Home", which spent a record 61 weeks on. This week, she finally comes back - teaming up with Bien on a French-translated version of their song "The Best Part". She is now just one #1 hit behind Kelly Clarkson (who still has two songs in the top 5 from her "Chemistry" album), this battle will be interesting to watch, and I wouldn't be surprised if, as they both keep releasing, go back and forth for the record.

This is also the first ever #1 in a language other than English; previously the Cranberries reached #4 with the Irish-language song "Iosa".

Guns N' Roses have their #1 hopes dashed but stay strong at #2 with "Perhaps" and Kelly Clarkson is still trying for her 30th #1 with "Rock Hudson" at #3. Carly Rae Jepsen's former #1 falls to #4 while Kelly Clarkson (again!) gets her 16th week in the top 5 in a row, "Favorite Kind Of High" never having left the top 5 since its debut.

We have several artists who have made new career peaks: Australian pop princess Jessica Mauboy, singer/actress Reneé Rapp and a more famous singer/actor, Keanu Reeves, and his band Dogstar. All of whom are looking for their first top 10 hits, with Jason Derulo (who collaborates on Jessica Mauboy's song "Give You Love") looking for his first top 10 hit in nearly 12 years.

The second highest debut of the week is the title track from Kylie Minogue's forthcoming album "Tension", landing straight in at #22. This outpeaks her global smash "Padam Padam" by 1 position, and if it makes top 10, it'll be Kylie's 18th overall.

2006 and 2007 were all about Timbaland and his collaborations with Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake. The three of them, who all charted together on "Give It To Me", have reunited on "Keep Going Up", set to be the biggest hit for any of them since Justin hit with "Can't Stop The Feeling".

The legendary Rolling Stones are back with the forthcoming release of their album "Hackney Diamonds", their first in 7 years and first of all original material in 18 years. While the bulk of their career predates my chart (and indeed, most of their hits were before I was born), they still have their fair share of hits, including 2020's top 10 hit "Living In A Ghost Town".

Two years ago, ABBA made headlines when they released their comeback album "Voyage", which gave them a top 5 hit in "Don't Shut Me Down". One of their members has returned with a new solo single, Agnetha Fältskog is back with "Where Do We Go From Here" from her forthcoming album "A+".

The other debuts include Nicki Minaj with easily her best single in years and first appearance since her Ariana Grande collaboration "Bed" in 2018; "Last Time I Saw You" enters at #56; Italian rockers Maneskin return at #57 with "Honey (Are You Coming)", the current Billboard Hot 100 #1 by Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves at #80 (Kacey previously hit the top 10 with "High Horse" in 2018 and has mostly been a regular since), new British singer-songwriter Andrew Cushin; German pop star Zoe Wees; chart mainstays Imagine Dragons and Bryan Adams, both of whom have previously topped my chart; the second chart appearance for Leah Kate who had "10 Things I Hate About You" last year; Danish DJ Martin Jensen, and the return of pop-punk stars Taking Back Sunday.

R.I.P. Steve Harwell (1967-2023)

And recently we lost lead singer of Smash Mouth, Steve Harwell; he died this past Monday at age 56. Over their career, he sang lead on many chart singles, including four top 10's and this week's #1 24 years ago with their biggest hit "All Star", which is featured on the chart flashback this week.
