Freaky Fly Bry's Top 100 - June 4, 2017

Lady GaGa gets her third #1 to date, and her first in six years, as "The Cure" rises to #1. Her previous #1's were "Telephone" and "Born This Way"; she has also reached #2 with "Bad Romance", "The Edge Of Glory" and "Million Reasons".

For the first time that I can remember, my entire top 10 is composed of artists who are all younger than me! In fact, the oldest artist in the top 10 is also the highest debut - 31-year-old Carly Rae Jepsen with "Cut To The Feeling", her 12th top 10 hit. If it hits #1, it will become her fourth.

The youngest artist in the top 10 is Shawn Mendes, who is 18 years old. Maggie Lindemann, who leaves the top 10 this week, is 18 days older than Shawn Mendes.

Don't count the older artists out yet, as songs by the Cranberries, TLC, Lindsey Buckingham/Christine McVie and Blondie are all just below the top 10 and some of them could make it in the coming weeks.

However, when it comes to when they first started charting for me, Paramore are the top 10 veterans of the week, as they first charted in 2007. Kate Voegele and Lady GaGa first charted in 2008 while Carly Rae Jepsen first charted in 2009.

Another situation I don't recall ever happening before takes place this week, as Niall Horan joins his One Direction bandmate Harry Styles in the top 10 with "Slow Hands". To date, three One Direction members have made my top 10 (Zayn also made it with "Like I Would" last year), while One Direction have had six top 10's together, including three #1's.

Ed Sheeran gets his third overall, and second top 10 from "÷", as "Galway Girl" rises 14-9.

Elsewhere, it's a 90's invasion in the top 40 as new hits by Hanson and the Goo Goo Dolls enter the top 40. Katy Perry's latest is just below at #41, waiting to become her 25th top 40 hit.

For the fourth time in chart history, artists from Norway (Kygo, Sigrid), Sweden (Zara Larsson, Mike Perry), Finland (One Desire), Denmark (Lukas Graham, Mike Tramp) and Iceland (Asgeir) are all charting at once. Faroese singer Eivør debuts as well. So the Nordics are well represented this week!

And much like other recent deaths such as David Bowie, George Michael and Chuck Berry who were shortly followed by chart appearances, Chris Cornell debuts shortly after his recent death with "The Promise" at #84.
