After 15 long years, 8 top 10 hits, 2 live concerts I've seen and 30 chart appearances, Montreal's Simple Plan has finally reached one goal that, until now, they have not done - and that is, they have achieved their first #1 song on my chart! They do it with "Problem Child", which is on their latest album "Taking One For The Team".
However, now that they've finally seized the moment, they shouldn't get too comfortable, as alongside them, other Canadians are also ruling my chart, with former #1 from Stef Lang falling to #5, Michelle Treacy rebounding to #2 and Kiesza scoring her biggest hit to date, rising from #21 to #4 with "Dearly Beloved"!
Also entering the top 10 is the UK's You Me At Six, with their first trip to the top 10 after several chart appearances, mostly in the lower regions of my chart.
The highest debut is the first appearance in my chart's 18-year existence for one of the 1980s' greatest female rockers, Pat Benatar, with her anthem inspiring women everywhere, "Shine", straight into the top 20!
Also entering the top 40 is Bruno Mars with his third top 40 from "24K Magic", "That's What I Like", 2 more "25" tracks from Adele, and the returns to the top 40 for Austin Mahone and Tiesto.
